FAQs

Having a broken denture can cause pain, make eating difficult, and make you feel self-conscious when you smile.

At Frederick Family Dentistry, we completely understand that giving up your denture for days on end can be inconvenient, especially since you need it to speak and eat properly. That is why we offer same-day denture repair at our conveniently located Frederick, Maryland dental office.

At the first sign of trouble with your denture, contact our office and set up an evaluation with Dr. Babak Ganjavian. He can determine if a repair to your denture is possible or if you would benefit from a new denture. We are experts in both.

Even if you need a reline for your denture, we can help. Your body changes as you age, and your bone structure may make your denture fit differently over time. A reline can improve the fit and comfort of your denture. We offer several options when it comes to relining your denture and will help you decide which one is right for you.

We are focused on helping patients stay comfortable when it comes to their dentistry, including dentures, and treat dental emergencies on the same day. If your denture breaks or feels like it is not fitting properly, we can help!

Dental emergencies are never convenient and can cause pain, disrupt your work schedule, and lead to missed sleep.

Often the first sign of a dental emergency involves pain. That is why we make it a priority to treat dental emergencies on the same day, whenever possible. If you have unexplained dental pain or a lost restoration, we will do our best to restore your oral health quickly and effectively so that you can get back to your busy life.

An emergency exam will allow Dr. Ganjavian to diagnose your condition. We will likely take an x-ray to determine the cause of your discomfort and to check for conditions such as infection, decay, and bone loss. Once we determine your dental emergency, we will work toward relieving your pain and discomfort.

We may be able to offer treatment on the same day, depending on your needs. Otherwise, we will address your pain and schedule an appointment for your treatment.

Dental emergencies rarely go away on their own. In fact, they often become more painful when left untreated. Call us at the first sign that something is wrong so that we can treat you right away and increase the chances of saving your tooth.

We currently welcome new patients of all ages to our Frederick, Maryland dental office. Even if you have never been to our office before, we treat dental emergencies for new patients – often on the same day!

At our Frederick, Maryland dental office, we perform most procedures right here without the need for a referral to a specialist. If you have a tooth that needs to be removed, we can evaluate it to determine if we can perform the extraction for you.

Having a tooth extracted creates a number of questions for our patients. How will I replace my tooth? How will a missing tooth affect my dental health? Dr. Ganjavian will be with you every step of the way to ensure that you are taken care of from start to finish.

When we perform an extraction in our dental office, we place your comfort at the top of our priorities. We will make sure that you are completely numb before we begin. If you need a little help relaxing, we offer oral conscious sedation to reduce your anxiety so that your experience is as relaxed and pain-free as possible.

Once we remove your tooth, we can discuss how to address the gap in your smile. We offer dental implants, bridges, partial dentures, and complete dentures to meet the needs of our patients. Dr. G will discuss the pros and cons of each option so that you can make a good decision regarding your dental health.

When patients want to improve the appearance of their smiles without traditional brackets and wires that are used in orthodontics, they may consider Invisalign as an option.

Invisalign utilizes a series of clear plastic aligner trays that fit over your teeth. Each aligner tray is designed to move your teeth gradually into a more aesthetic position. Whether you have crowding, overlapping, or gaps between your teeth, you can improve their appearance using Invisalign.

An evaluation with Dr. Ganjavian is the first step toward a more attractive smile. Once he determines you are a good candidate for Invisalign, he will take impressions of your teeth to send to our dental lab where they will create your aligner trays. You should wear each tray for approximately two weeks before trading it in for the next aligner tray.

Dr. G will monitor your progress and make sure that your treatment is going as planned. Compliance is important in all orthodontic treatment. Wearing your trays for at least 22 hours per day will help to keep your treatment on track, so you can have a beautiful, straighter smile in a reasonable amount of time.

Once your treatment is complete, you will need to wear a dental retainer, just like with traditional orthodontics, because your teeth will have a tendency to drift back to their original location.

To find out if Invisalign is right for you, contact our Frederick, Maryland dental office to schedule a consultation.

Missing teeth create unattractive gaps in your smile and put the health of your other teeth at risk. When you lose a tooth, Dr. Ganjavian will offer you a number of options to help close the gap in your smile.

One of the most effective tooth-replacement options is the dental implant. It provides a stable foundation for your dental crown and allows you to eat and speak normally. Dental implants are easy to care for and require the same care as your natural teeth.

Because they are surgically implanted in your bone, we will work closely with a trusted oral surgeon in our specialist network to make sure that you receive the best surgical care possible. Once your implant is placed, we will allow enough time for it to heal properly before we place the crown on your implant.

Implant crowns are custom designed to match your smile and bite perfectly. They look just like your other teeth when you smile and laugh, giving you added confidence and security.

Dental implants also have many health benefits including bone retention and preventing your remaining teeth from shifting due to the gap in your smile.

If you have a missing tooth or if you have dentures that do not fit properly, you may be a candidate for dental implants or implant-retained dentures. Call our office to schedule an evaluation with Dr. Ganjavian. We look forward to helping you achieve a healthy smile!
